Question: How long does it take to get Dial Before You Dig plans?

Answer:

It seems to get faster with each passing year. Today most major utility companies have set up automation for their Dial Before You Dig requests, so after you put a request in the plans for the area will be generated automatically and emailed to you. Within just a couple of hours of submitting a request you could have most of your plans back. There are still a couple of companies that perform the process manually, and as such it is a longer wait.

The worst-case scenario should be 48 hours from when you put your request in. If you haven’t received your plans back after 48 hours, we strongly advise that you contact the authority directly using the phone number given on the Dial Before You Dig coversheet to ask what has gone wrong and why you have not yet received your plans.
